Pick Your Panels – SXSW 2016

Screen Shot 2015-08-15 at 12.04.05 PM

I spent some time voting on SXSW panel proposals. Here are some I hope you will check out and provide support by using the thumbs up, recommending with the heart and leaving a comment. It’s easy to set up a login to get in the system, and you can use your FB or Twitter login to leave comments. Viewing the SXSW proposals is a good way to identify the digital trends. I see lots about data, virtual reality, analytics… of course mobile and social are still big. There’s stuff about sports, Gen Z is coming up and lots about startups, innovation and design thinking.

TXST students from my SXTXState course who submitted panels. These students are very passionate about their topics, so I hope you will check them out. They both made great videos:

http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/vote/50306 – Reimagining LGBT Communities in the Digital Age by Becky Larson.

http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/vote/52897 – Art and Science: Investigate the Universe to the Soul by Carl Clark.

http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/vote/52852 – Selling Your Podcast Without Selling Your Soul by Sara Peralta. She was a student in our program and did the SXTXState not once, but twice! She works at NPR now, so has some great experience with this topic.

Update:  http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/vote/54369 Didn’t notice that TXST grad Anna Tauzin is also on a panel proposal. From Palate to Plate: Defining a Taste Platform.

TXST faculty:

http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/vote/47425 – Enjoy the Silence: Native Video on Facebook by Dale Blasingame.

http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/vote/56164 – Disrupting J School with Digital Culture by Robert Hernandez,  including me, Matt Waite and Michelle Johnson.

Awesome friends who have great panels and should come to SXSW:

http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/vote/50619 – Citizen Science: Sensors and the Environment by Amy Schmitz Weiss.

http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/vote/52626 – Innovating a Newsroom with Data, includes Aron Pilhofer and Simon Rogers – the original data journalism innovators.

Who else has a panel I should check out?
